Bringing the Garden Into Everyday Life

The challenge

The homeowners wanted more than additional floor space. They wanted a home that felt calmer, brighter and more connected to the garden.

The existing layout limited natural light and the relationship between the house and its surroundings. They imagined a contemporary garden room that could become part of everyday life, while respecting the character of the existing home.

The challenge was to create a space that felt effortless, timeless and deeply connected to its setting.

​Unlocking the potential

Instead of asking, "How can we build another room?", we started with a different question.

"How can we make the garden feel like part of the home?"

The design was inspired by Scandinavian architecture, where simplicity, natural materials and carefully framed views create spaces that feel calm and welcoming.

Large areas of glazing draw daylight deep into the home while creating a seamless connection with the garden beyond. A carefully positioned window seat provides a quiet place to pause, read or simply enjoy the changing seasons, while integrated furniture helps maintain a clean and uncluttered interior.

Every detail was considered to create a home that feels both contemporary and timeless.

The outcome

The proposal creates much more than a garden room.

It creates a space that feels intrinsically connected to both the home and the landscape beyond. Generous glazing, carefully framed views and integrated seating encourage moments of pause, while a calm, natural material palette allows the changing seasons to become part of the interior experience.

By strengthening the relationship between the home and its surroundings, the design transforms not only the way the house looks, but the way it is lived in every day.
