About Spirit + Structure

Architecture should feel personal.

Hi, I'm Andy.

I'm Andy Marriott, architect and founder of Spirit + Structure.

I started the practice because I wanted to work differently. More personally, more collaboratively and with the freedom to really get to know the people I'm designing for.

I believe some of the best opportunities are already sitting within the homes we live in. An awkward layout, an overlooked corner, a room that no longer works or a garden that feels disconnected from everyday life.

My job is to see that potential and help turn it into something that works beautifully for you.

Do things small, but well.

I don’t believe good architecture is about making homes bigger for the sake of it.

Sometimes the answer is an extension. Sometimes it’s moving a wall, finding better storage or simply looking at the space you already have differently.

I’m interested in thoughtful design that makes everyday life better. Spaces that bring people together, connect with the garden, make better use of natural light and simply feel good to live in.

Renovate, don’t relocate. Unlock the potential of the home you already love.

Experience behind the ideas.

Before founding Spirit + Structure, I spent more than ten years working in architecture across the UK and internationally.

My experience spans residential design, conservation, healthcare, commercial projects and major developments, from carefully considered alterations to multimillion pound projects.

Today, I bring that experience to every Spirit + Structure project, whatever its scale.

My involvement doesn’t have to stop when the drawings are approved. I can provide guidance during construction, helping you navigate decisions, liaise with your contractor and deal with the unexpected things that inevitably arise on site

Building work can feel daunting. Let me help take some of that stress away.

Have something in mind?

You don’t need a finished brief or all the answers. If there’s something about your home that isn’t quite working, let’s explore what might be possible.
